The visits that became enquiries

Name what counts as a result, a page reached or an action taken, and see how often it happens. Lay out the steps you expect people to follow and see where they drop away.

Decide what counts as a result

A goal is a page reached, such as a thank-you page, or a named action your site records, such as an enquiry sent. Add one and WebTrack counts how often it happens and how many visitors got there, including what already happened before you set it up.

Funnels show where people stop

Set out the steps you expect, from the first page to the finished enquiry, and see how many people reach each one in a single visit. The step with the biggest drop is the one to fix first.

Rates you can compare

Conversion rates count visitors, not clicks, so a goal reached twice within one visit is not counted as two successes. Compare a period with the one before to see whether a change helped.

Do I need a developer to set up a goal?

Not for a page goal. A goal for an action, like a form sent, needs one line on your site, which your developer adds once.

Read the developer guide

Does a new goal include past visits?

Yes. Matching activity that was already recorded is counted straight away.

Works closely with

Goals and funnels read the same visits and actions as these, so a result can always be traced back to where it came from.

  • Acquisition

    What brought people to you.

  • Revenue

Sales, joined to the visits behind them.

  • Activity

Visits, sessions and actions, one by one.
